Cause and Effect - 10 Steps to Hell on Earth

1. Suppressed by Victorian society and hurt by his father's recent death, the young Aliester Crowley begins to rebel against his mother and society.


2. Crowley's Christian mother chastises her rebellious son, calling him "The Beast" (from the Book of Revelation).


3. Crowley's rebellion pushes him into the Buddhism, yoga, the occult, mysticism, "black magick" (Crowley's term for Satanic signs and wonders), occult sexuality, and Satanism.


4. Crowley's deep involvement in the occult leads him to declare himself The Beast, the Antichrist, just as his mother had once called him.
   


5. Crowley becomes an idol and mentor to a wealthy occultist in the United States, Harry Hubbard.


6. Inspired by Crowley, Harry Hubbard attempts to perform a "black magick number" and abort the fetus inside his pregnant wife. The failed abortion attempt resulted in a son being born prematurely, 6 months into the pregnancy. They name the child Lafayette Ronald Hubbard.


7. L. Ron Hubbard becomes deeply involved with the occult and Satanism after meeting Jack Parson, an associate of Aliester Crowley. The two men go as far as to perform a black magick ritual, the Babalon Working, an attempt to birth a moonchild, the antichrist, in California during the 1940s.
   


8. Ron Hubbard's deep involvement with the occult combined with his ideas on ritualism and psychology lead him to create Dianetics. Followers of Dianetics are formed into a religious cult. Ron Hubbard claims the cult was officially founded December 1, 1947, the day of Aliester Crowley's death.


9. Ron's new cult becomes a business/religion, dubbed Scientology®. The religion combines occult underpinnings, Hubbard's Crowly-influenced writings, and of course Hubbard's own Dianetics.
   


10. Scientology® becomes the largest cult in the United States, perhaps the largest and most powerful cult ever to have been created.
    

Wow. Amazing how the chain effect of events, starting from something so small, results in something so large.

A small seed of evil grows into a terrible tree of despair: a mother calls her rebellious son "the Beast", ruins his life, ruins the lives of millions, and results in the largest cult ever created. Really sad.
