Gimme teh moniez!

blog monies

Above is a picture of yours truly holding a check for $100.

What’s so special about a $100 check, you ask? Why the mouth-gaping grin on Judah Gabriel?

Well, it’s just that those 100 clams were generated entirely from this blog.

Yes, at the end of every post on this blog, there exists a strip of targeted ads, courtesy of Google AdSense. For example, right now there’s an ad appearing for a free Messianic bible. And another for studying the bible online. Viewing and clicking those ads generates the green stuff.

I started running those ads awhile back with the promise that 100% of the proceeds will go to a Messianic ministry of my choosing.

Yes, just by visiting the Kineti blog and occasionally clicking those ads, you are supporting Messianic ministries.

(There, I’ve now guilt-tripped you into regularly visiting Kineti. )

o hai. can I haz internet riches 2?

No, bad kitty.

If you’re reading this blog, you probably have a blog of your own. You might be thinking, Scrooge McDuck accent and all, “Judah made $100 off his blog? I must put these ads on my blog immediately, and I’ll replenish my coffers in no time!”

Well, sorry to rain on your parade, but the sad fact is, unless you’re running a hugely popular blog (e.g. hundreds of thousands of visitors per day), putting ads on your blog won’t get you rich.

Cue sad trombone.

Here are the sobering statistics:

  • I put ads on my blog 5 years ago.
  • There are 1,825 days in 5 years.
  • There are 10,000¢ in $100.
  • 10,000¢ / 1,825 days = 5¢ per day.

Yes, ads on your blog will make you about 5 cents a day. And that’s if you get reasonable traffic, say, a couple hundred visitors per day. Granted, Kineti blog traffic has greatly increased since 2005 – I’ll probably get another $100 check in about a year or two – but still, it ain’t much, folks.

Cue sad shark.

Blogging won’t make you rich.

But hey, it will give you a voice that will live for generations (the internet never forgets), and visiting this blog will help Messianic organizations.

At least we have that going for us. Cue happy Jesus.

  7. @Michael, so shameless! :-) But a wonderful and worthy cause. I'll consider it.

(For those of you that don't know, Dr. Schiffman runs a humanitarian organization that gives food and medicine to poverty-stricken Holocaust survivors: Chevra. I've seen some of the work they've done, they do a great service for our people and for the Lord.)
