Justifying an evil

Ron Paul supporter kills conscience to survive.

It's amazing what the human mind can conjure up to justify some evil. I've heard it said, when you repeat a lie long enough, the mind begins to believe it to be true.

Kind of scary to see a lie invented in plain sight of everyone, along with folks planning to promote that lie through media. Yikes. Politics is nasty. I'm entirely convinced it has the power to compromise ethics and morality in even the strongest ethical person.

    For sure.
    There's an overwhelming temptation to make an idol out of your candidate, to invest your hopes and dreams in his success... and then to defend that with a fanatical zeal, as though your life was really in his hands.

    But these guys are all dirty in some way. And i mean, blood-on-their-hands dirty.
    It's hard to vote for anyone without feeling at least a little sick.

    Put not your trust in princes, in mortal men, who cannot save.
    When their spirit departs, they return to the ground; on that very day their plans come to nothing.
    Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob, whose hope is in the Lord his God

  2. Hey Josh, thanks for posting.

    You're right, it is hard to vote for anyone. Sometimes it feels like we're voting for the least evil.

    Wow, Josh, what a great psalm. I wasn't familiar with that Scripture; I just looked it up. So fitting for election time! :-)

    Praise the LORD.
    Praise the LORD, O my soul.

    I will praise the LORD all my life;
    I will sing praise to my God as long as I live.

    Do not put your trust in princes,
    in mortal men, who cannot save.

    When their spirit departs, they return to the ground;
    on that very day their plans come to nothing.

    Blessed is he whose help is the God of Jacob,
    whose hope is in the LORD his God,

    the Maker of heaven and earth,
    the sea, and everything in them—
    the LORD, who remains faithful forever.

    He upholds the cause of the oppressed
    and gives food to the hungry.
    The LORD sets prisoners free,

    the LORD gives sight to the blind,
    the LORD lifts up those who are bowed down,
    the LORD loves the righteous.

    The LORD watches over the alien
    and sustains the fatherless and the widow,
    but he frustrates the ways of the wicked.

    The LORD reigns forever,
    your God, O Zion, for all generations.
    Praise the LORD.

    Wow. That's awesome. We really need to remember this; so many folks get caught up in politics during the elections. I love that psalm: disappointment for those who trust politicians, blessings for those who trust God. Awesome. Thanks for pointing me to that.
